Digital collaboration solutions deliver major benefits in municipal healthcare

DNV Imatis gir gevinster ved bruk av digital samhandling og oppgavestøtte

A new report from Smart Care Lab shows how DNV Imatis’ digital solutions are helping three Norwegian municipalities streamline their daily operations. The assessment documents time savings, improved information flow, and increased patient safety – benefits that free up time and resources for patient care.

Clear impact on operations and patient pathways

Smart Care Lab, a test and validation service in Norway Health Tech, has conducted an independent assessment of DNV Imatis in home care services, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and allocation offices. The report highlights significant improvements across service areas: simpler coordination, better overview, and more efficient information sharing. In Farsund municipality alone, the system was shown to save more than 390 hours annually – time now redirected to direct patient care.
“Since the introduction of DNV Imatis, morning start-up time has been reduced from 30 to just 10 minutes during shift handovers – freeing up time for patients and creating a calmer, more focused environment on the ward” says the welfare technology coordinator in Farsund municipality.
Other municipalities also report reduced costs through faster patient transitions and better utilisation of available capacity.

Improved workflow and higher quality

Municipalities emphasise that the digital interactive whiteboards provide a real-time overview, replacing binders, sticky notes, and phone calls. The result is fewer misunderstandings, more predictable shift handovers, and safer patient pathways. Stand-up meetings/MDTs have also evolved into important learning arenas across professional groups.
“The stand-up meetings function as an interdisciplinary meeting place and learning arena, where unskilled staff learn which clinical observations are important to communicate. This strengthens both quality and motivation,” explains a nursing home employee.
Patient safety has also been strengthened. A department manager in Farsund points to risk screening as a clear example:
“A concrete improvement is the systematic risk screening for falls, pressure ulcers, and nutrition. This was not consistently done before, but is now carried out routinely because it is so clearly highlighted on the digital interactive whiteboard.”

Ease of use and learning in practice

The implementation of DNV Imatis has been described as remarkably smooth. Initial scepticism quickly turned into enthusiasm once staff experienced how intuitive the solution was to use – even with minimal training. Several highlight that the combination of user-friendliness, time savings, and enhanced patient safety makes the system both cost-effective and sustainable in daily operations.

An example of the value of cluster collaboration

Through collaboration with Smart Care Lab, the benefits have been documented in a structured and independent way. This delivers valuable insights for both municipalities and the supplier, and demonstrates how the cluster’s test services ensure that digital solutions generate real results in practice.
“We greatly appreciate the collaboration with Smart Care Lab, which provides municipalities with independent documentation of the benefits. This increases confidence in decision-making and shows that digital solutions create lasting improvements in community care,” says Cesilie Kullerud, CMCO at DNV Imatis.
