Sveinung Tornås er ny CEO i Norway Health Tech

With solid experience in innovation, digital transformation and collaboration between the healthcare sector and industry, Sveinung Tornås will lead Norway’s largest health cluster moving forward.

Press release, Oslo 09.02.2026

Tornås is a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD and joins Norway Health Tech from the position as Director of Innovation in the Division for Digital Transformation at the Norwegian Directorate of Health. He has extensive experience in developing and leading innovation initiatives in the healthcare sector and has played a central role in the development of a joint national plan for the safe and responsible implementation of artificial intelligence in health and care services.

– Norway Health Tech plays a vital role in the development of future healthcare services and the health industry in Norway. If we are to succeed in developing and implementing new solutions in healthcare, innovation must be closely linked to real needs, and solutions must create tangible value where they are applied. The cluster serves as an important platform for collaboration between healthcare services, industry, research and knowledge institutions, says Tornås.

Through previous leadership roles, including Sunnaas Hospital Trust, Tornås has worked closely with clinical needs, research and technology development. This combination of healthcare experience and strategic expertise in innovation and scaling provides a strong foundation for strengthening the cluster’s role as a public–private collaboration platform.

Tornås is particularly focused on how the public sector can act as a clear and competent needs owner, and highlights that the adoption and scaling of effective solutions in healthcare services will be critical in the period ahead.

– I have worked extensively to connect industry more closely with healthcare services. Going forward, it will be essential to strengthen public–private collaboration so that solutions are not only developed but also widely adopted and scaled. I look forward to contributing to further growth, stronger collaboration and increased international impact for the Norwegian health industry, says Tornås.

The Right Leader for the Next Phase

The Board believes that the appointment of Sveinung Tornås is a strong strategic move for Norway Health Tech and a natural choice considering the cluster’s strategic direction.

– We are very pleased to welcome Sveinung Tornås as the new CEO of Norway Health Tech. He brings a unique combination of professional expertise, leadership experience and deep understanding of how healthcare services, technology and industry intersect and collaborate. The Board is confident that he is the right person to lead the cluster into its next phase, says Janne T. Morstøl, Chair of the Board.

Norway Health Tech is Norway’s largest health cluster, with more than 350 members and partners across the entire healthcare value chain. The cluster works to strengthen the Norwegian health industry by facilitating the development, industrialisation and scaling of health technology solutions – with the aim of more sustainable healthcare services in Norway and increased international success for Norwegian companies.

Sveinung Tornås will assume the role of CEO on May 1st.
