Dr Stefan Harrer is a researcher and data scientist at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience. He spent over 12 years with IBM Research in the US and Australia as IBM Senior Technical Staff Member and Global Lead of Epilepsy Research and was inducted to the IBM Academy of Technology.
Stefan holds 67 issued patents and was named IBM Master Inventor twice.
He was inducted to the Forbes Technology Council, is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and a Senior Member of the IEEE. Stefan holds an Adjunct Professor position at the University of Technology Sydney and has authored 59 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Stefan received a Research Scholarship from UC Berkeley, a Karl Chang Innovation Fund Grant from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an Honorary Principal Research Fellowship from the University of Melbourne and several Research Grants from the NIH and the Australian Research Council. Stefan holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich and an Honors Degree in Technology Management from CDTM.
Based in our Melbourne office, Stefan supports our partners and investors with identifying problems worth solving, guiding them through the incubation of projects and ventures to build innovative solutions with clinical and commercial impact.
A father of two boys, Stefan enjoys tennis, rock climbing, as well as playing piano and ukulele.
