Welcome to the Healthtech Festival 2023!

We invite you to join us in celebrating the Norwegian ecosystem for Health Technologies in Oslo Science Park on the 15th of June. During this day, the whole ground floor will be filled with people and solutions aiming to improve healthcare through technology. We want to bring together health tech companies, industry leaders, healthcare providers, decision makers and experts, to connect and enable change in healthcare together.

We are currently planning the program, that will be inspiring, educational and fun. We want to discuss challenges, examples of collaboration and future developments within our sector and beyond. In addition, there will be plenty of time for networking!

Confirmed speakers (to be updated):

Ryan Mathew, Associate Professor at the University of Leeds and an Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He obtained an MBCHB with Honours and an intercalated BSc with Honours, the latter in Clinical Sciences (Tissue Engineering) research. During his neurosurgical training at Leeds (FRCS (SN) in 2013), he undertook further basic science research (funded by CRUK) and was awarded a PhD based on Glioma Modelling using induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) and Cerebral Organoids. He has spent time as a Visiting Research Collaborator at the Brain Tumour Research Centre at Sickkids in Toronto. His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of general neurosurgery with a subspecialty interest in brain tumours; in particular gliomas, meningiomas and awake surgery. His basic science research interests focus on developing advanced in vitro and in vivo brain tumour models, studying residual glioma cell populations that are resistant to therapy and fuel recurrence, and developing local therapeutic treatments. He also leads a research portfolio in surgical technologies and devices which encompasses virtual/mixed reality, machine learning for early brain tumour diagnosis and malignant transformation, real-time intra-operative tumour visualisation and histology, in silico trials, and early phase neoadjuvant and repurposing trials. He is the Neurosurgery Lead for the NIHR Surgical MIC, Surgical Technologies Academy Incubator and RCS Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the SBNS, BNOS Research Subcommittee and a HoloMedicine Association Founding Member.

Nic Alexander is a consultant neonatal and paediatric surgeon at Imperial College NHS Trust in London. Alexander has a passion for novel healthcare technology and a track record for introduction and implementation of these into NHS clinical practice from direct patient care such as wireless ultrasound to patient focused solutions such as VR for anxiolysis in children.

Rafael Guerrero is the co-founder of the award-winning Alder Hey Innovation Service in Liverpool. He has developed the use of Virtual Reality to navigate inside a human heart of a patient, and with Microsoft he developed new applications of mixed reality on the use of Hololens 2 in direct patient care and healthcare education.

Kari E. Krogstad is President and CEO of Medistim ASA – one of Norway’s most successful medtech exports. Krogstad has more than 30 years of experience from the biomedical industry, from commercial leadership roles within the pharma, biotech and medtech sectors. Before joining Medistim, she spent 11 years at Dynal, where she also led Invitrogen Dynal in the role as General Manager.

Ingrid Teigland Akay is the Managing Partner of life science VC fund Hadean Ventures. She is a medical doctor and experienced investment professional with background in healthcare, consumer goods and technology. During her investment career, Ingrid has invested into and supported start-up companies globally in different phases of development, from R&D to commercial stage.
