Joanna Lane

Senior EU Advisor

Prof. Joanna Lane PhD: Founder and Managing Director of Stichting HCN (Amsterdam) and Professor at the Science Centre for Health & Technology, University of South-Eastern Norway.

She has 35 years of relevant experience of working at the interface of policy, research and practice. Her professional experience includes: Managing Director of Stichting HCN (2019+); Managing Director of Stichting INTEGRATE (2012-2018), Executive Director of HCN Ltd (2008-2018), Project Director of HCN Interreg IIIC Network Operation (2005-2007), MD of CCL Associates (2001-2006) a consultancy in the UK and Europe for Governments/Universities/third sector completing 40 R&D projects and Director of Research & Evaluation at the Health Education Board for Scotland – also a WHO Collaborating Centre (1996-2001). Her academic experience includes: Honorary Professor (2010-2013) and Special Professor of Health and Public Policy (2001-2010) at the School of Community Health Sciences, University of Nottingham; Lay Member of the University Court at Edinburgh Napier University (2008-2011).

She did the formative work for an Erasmus Mundus funded European Master’s degree in Sustainable Regional Health Systems (launched 2008); and was Visiting Professor of Health and Public Policy, University of York (1999-2001). In addition, she is an adviser to EU funded health innovation projects; an external expert for DG REGIO (2012-2015) and external evaluator for H2020 and the EU Health Programme 2014-2020, a Technical Advisor to WHO Europe (1993-2001 and 2016). Since 1993 she has published and edited books, book chapters, peer-reviewed papers, working papers and policy briefings at all levels from local to international.
