Circular lunch: Health tech and circular business models

The healthcare sector is a major consumer of resources, with equipment, packaging and textiles that are often used only once. At the same time, the sector is facing increasing requirements in public procurement to reduce its climate and environmental footprint, while operating within tighter budgets and regulatory frameworks.

Several Norwegian and international initiatives demonstrate the potential for circular solutions in healthcare, ranging from the reuse and reprocessing of medical devices to smarter material choices and improved systems for return and reuse. The challenges are rarely about willingness alone. More often, they relate to regulations, hygiene requirements, procurement practices and a lack of collaboration across the value chain. At the same time, circular solutions can provide Norwegian health companies with a competitive advantage in an EU market where requirements for sustainable procurement and documentation of environmental impact are becoming increasingly stringent.

In this webinar, organised by the Norwegian Centre for Circular Economy (NCCE) and Norway Health Tech (NHT), we will explore how circular business models can contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient healthcare sector, drawing on examples from research, industry and organisations already working with these challenges in practice.
